Travelling to and from Perth

Parking in Perth. There are a wide range of safe and secure, short stay car parks within the city centre, and to stay all day, follow the signs for South Inch, Kinnoull Street, Thimble Row or Canal Street car parks. These car parks are a short walk from the High Street. Parking at South Inch is £2.50 per day.

Kinnoull Street multi-storey car park is open until midnight, Monday to Sunday and costs £1 after 6pm. Canal Street multi-storey car park is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and parking is FREE from 6pm until 8am.

Broxden Park + Ride service operates between Broxden on the Glasgow Road approach to Perth and Perth city centre. This quick and easy alternative to using the car in the city centre costs £1 per return journey and provides a limited stop express service, with stops at Glasgow Road (Lamberkine Drive), Cherrybank, Perth Leisure Pool, Mill Street for the city centre, and Leonard Street for bus and rail stations.

Bus transport
Megabus.com use the Broxden Park+Ride site as an interchange for their buses operating to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness. Megabus.com passengers can use the Perth Park+Ride service for journeys to/from Perth City Centre on payment of the appropriate fare to the driver or by showing your prepaid, through travel ticket, purchased from Megabus.com.

The Scone Park + Ride service is located on the northern approach into Scone and served by the no7 bus route. The Scone Park + Ride is open seven days a week from 6.36am (Monday to Friday), 7.16am (Saturday) and 9.56am(Sunday) with the site closing at 7.56pm daily. The buses depart every 10 minutes weekdays with reduced frequencies in the early evenings and on Sundays. Parking is free. Return ticket prices are £1.50 per adult and £2.50 for a family.

Perth city centre has 3 car parks that have achieved safety awards of "Secure by Design" or "Park Mark". These are the multi-storey car parks in Kinnoull Street and Canal Street and the open air car park in Old High Street.

Perth can be reached by a network of fast and reliable Bus services . In addition, local bus operators provide frequent links to Perth from most local towns. Citylink, Megabus, Traveline, Stagecoach are helpful websites.

Perth Railway Station is a short walk from the city centre. There are regular services to and from Stirling, Dundee and Pitlochry, with a journey time of around 30 minutes. Direct trains to and from Edinburgh run at approximately two hourly intervals. This is a lovely scenic train journey, passing along the Fife coast and through some stunning scenery in North Fife and Perthshire. From Edinburgh, the journey takes an hour and 25 minutes. The direct train to Perth from Glasgow, runs hourly from Queen Street and takes around an hour. Contact National Rail Enquiries.

In Perth the cost of parking and the maximum time you can park for depends on how close the spaces are to the city centre. Check signs and ticket issuing machines at the location for details. Charges apply 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday.
Free days
All on-street Pay and Display and Council operated car parks are free of charge on 1 and 2 January and also on 25 and 26 December. Charges apply on all other Bank and Local holidays.
Handy tip
If you want to park your car overnight you can pre-pay for parking to cover the following morning. This will to save you having to dash to your car at 8 am to purchase a ticket. The valid period on any parking ticket purchased after 6 pm starts at 8 am the following morning. e.g. a 4 hour ticket purchased any time after 6 pm would be valid from 8 am until 12 noon the following day.
