Anyone who knows Dollar, nestling up against the Ochil HIlls in Central Scotland, will be aware of the magnificent position of the Clubhouse at the foot of the Dollar Glen and that the second floor position of The Glen apartment is an attractive tourist venue for many. This attractively furnished apartment has two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and can sleep up to 6 people when the two single sofa bed are used. The newly fitted kitchen has a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, hob/oven and washing machine.
Visitors to The Glen Apartment will become temporary members of Dollar Golf Club for the duration of their stay with access to golf, the Club facilities and catering. A special Residents Golfing rate is offered at £10 for a day ticket and £30 for a weekly ticket [per person]. Packages could also be arranged for traditional courses such as St Andrews and Gleneagles.
Local attractions include Castle Campbell and Dollar Academy. The walk through Dollar Glen to the Castle is wonderful whatever the weather and just past the Castle you will find yourself in uninterrupted wilderness of the Ochils. Edinburgh and Glasgow are both within an hour’s drive. These world-class cities need no introduction.
Nearby to the West the ancient town of Stirling offers numerous attractions such as Stirling Castle, with its imposing position overlooking the Carse of Stirling, and the Wallace Monument. The Stirling University Campus lies outside the town near the attractive Bridge of Allan.
No trip to Scotland is complete without visiting some of the most beautiful countryside in Europe. You can head north to Perth (around 30 minutes by car) taking in Scone Palace, and up the A9 to the little cathedral town of Dunkeld on the banks of the River Tay , Pitlochry, with its “Theatre in the Hills”, Salmon Ladder, Explorer’s Garden, Blair Castle, The Soldier’s Leap at Killicrankie and beyond to Inverness. Heading west you’ll find Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, and Scotland’s first National Park.
There is plenty of opportunity for sport in the area with over 30 golf courses within an hour’s drive, including the world-class St Andrews and The Gleneagles Hotel Resort. Nearby Loch Leven has an excellent walking and cycle trail and bird watchers will want to visit the RSPB Vane Farm.
Dollar itself is a really interesting gold course – a village hillside course designed by Ben Sayers where there is no need for any bunkers. At Gleneagles just 30 minutes away you’ll find world-class golfing, a shooting school, equestrian centre and falconry, and locally there is plenty of fishing and hunting if visitors are interested.
