Property information
A comfortable and charming cottage with direct access on to the local golf course. The Wee House at The Loaning, originally the gardener's cottage, has been recently redesigned to provide a very comfortable holiday cottage. Situated in the grounds of The Loaning, it has its very own private gate into Muthill Golf Course where they have even named the closing hole - The Loaning!
The Wee House lies a short walking distance from the historic village of Muthill in picturesque Strathearn. There are outstanding views across open fields to the market town of Crieff with a backdrop of the southern edge of the Grampian Mountains and Ben Chonzie - our local Munro!
Strathearn is an excellent centre for outdoor pursuits including golfing, fishing, sailing at Loch Earn, cycling, walking, rock climbing, pony trekking or the perfect hideaway for a romantic break in the Scottish Highlands. And if you want a cosy meal out the Wee House is only a short walk from the Village Inn which serves real ale and hearty country fayre!
ActivitiesHill Walking - The local area can accommodate the keen hill-walker as well as those looking for a beautiful ramble from the front door. The Wee House has on it's doorstep the rugged Grampian Mountains as well as idyllic forest walks and riverside ambles.
Fishing - The River Earn which flows through Crieff is teeming with Rainbow and Brown Trout. Permits can be purchased from Crieff Tourist Information Office. For those who enjoy Loch fishing the nearby stocked lochan at Comrie Croft provides magnificent views and plentiful fishing. For those brave enough, a quick dip in the lochan is very refreshing!!
Mountain Biking - Scotland is rated as the Number One mountain biking destination in the world. With relative ease, access can be gained to the multitude of trails criss-crossing Perthshire. You can hire bikes locally from Comrie Croft. Golf - The Wee House is located right next door to the splendid Muthill Golf Course. As you can imagine with Scotland being 'the home of golf' there is a plethora of golf courses in and around the local area, including the championship courses at the nearby The Gleneagles Hotel.
Climbing - Experienced climbers or beginners should head to the rocky outcrops at Benny Begg.
